During our tour we’ll stop at many must-see places, like the Red Road where you’ll experience the awesome power of an active volcano – a thrilling reminder that the earth is still in the process of creation.
We’ll hike through tropical rain forests ablaze with flowers and rustling with local fauna. We’ll stroll down Hawaii’s legendary black sand beaches, where dolphins and humpbacks can be glimpsed surfing the waves.
This tour offers a unique, guided, group cycling experience geared towards the beginning to intermediate rider. Our hosts along the way will invite you into their lives and share with you the many ways they’ve learned to live in harmony with nature.
You’ll gain first-hand knowledge of how real people are taking real steps to live lightly on the planet. We’ll visit some of the world’s leading intentional communities and learn about the guiding principles that make them truly self-sufficient and sustainable. Service projects along the way give you an opportunity to get off the bike, get involved with the locals and be inspired.
You can learn about rainwater catchment systems, organic gardening, permaculture, composting, integrated animal systems, active and passive solar design, green building practices, ancient Hawaiian culture, land use principles and more.

Its all on good, safe, low-traffic, paved roads and our gear van will never be far behind to care for your needs or give you a lift should you need it. Participants of all levels and all ages from 12 to 78 have biked with us and loved it!

Route & Mileage:
This tour starts and ends in Hilo, HI (Big Island). The majority of the biking days will be 20-60 miles/day. There will be some non biking activity days and some shorter ride days between hosts.
