Our natural cycling tours are run by Common Circle -- a social change company based in Portland, Oregon. Common Circle operates on a triple bottom line: people, planet, profit.

Let's unpack that a bit.

In our view, the bottom line has to shift. It has to start being about more than just money. If we truly care about our community and our planet, then the bottom line has to expand to include the entire impact we make in the world, rather than just the money we make.

Of course, as a company with paid employees, we need to be profitable, but we're looking at so much more, and we know that you are too, which is why you're reading this now.

Our mission is simple. By focusing on solutions (not problems) and pro-active models (not complaints), we want to facilitate social change by empowering activists and inspiring the formation of innovative grassroots projects.

We recognize ourselves -- and you -- to be a part of a broader global movement for a just, sustainable and democratic society.

This is why our tours have been designed to combine the joy of being outdoors and active in nature, with inspiring learning experiences that give hands-on experience of new technologies based on time-honored principles of stewardship. We partner with leaders in the sustainability movement, organic farming, permaculture and natural building in order to provide an education that fosters a paradigm shift in the way we think about the possibilities for our world.

Internally we do our best to walk our talk:

- We recognize participant and staff safety as our top priority, so we provide risk-reduction training as a part of each tour.

- We operate in line with the best-feasible sustainability principles and philosophies, so for example our gear vehicle is biofuel-powered, and our catering is local and organic wherever possible.

- We believe that a diverse, inspired, skilled team driven by a clear common mission and values is key to the wellbeing of our organization. So we invest in staff compensation and development, and our tours are designed for all abilities.

We hope you'll bike with us. Its more than just a vacation. It's an intention about how you want to live your life, it's a statement about your position in the world, it's an experience you'll take back to your community, inspiring change from the inside out.
