“Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex,
the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.” – Bill Mollison
What is the Art of Creating Community?
Through a set of simple exercises rooted in principles of nature, we will look at the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, emotions and language; and we will examine possibilities that can help us achieve our highest potential and create the community we want.
We will examine the practices of being deeply connected and truly present to ourselves and the world around us in a way that grounds us and creates the fertile ground needed for the seeds of community to blossom.
The entire workshop is grounded in the practice of working with nature to create powerful results.

The truth is within you
Believing that each of us holds all the wisdom we need in life, throughout the workshop we will work to gradually widen our awareness and connectedness with that individual and collective wisdom.
Supported by the open-hearted questions and much reflection we will practice honesty, connecting with our dreams and bringing our visions to the center of our lives.
What does it mean to live in community?
By weaving together the study of natural patterns with compassionate communication and the practice of being present, you will gain a set of powerful tools to create lasting, powerful change in your life and build the community you want. Throughout the weekend we will explore various ways of connecting with others with the intention of building resilient community.

What is permaculture?
Much of permaculture involves what our great grandparents instinctively knew when they lived in villages, made their own things, and grew their own food. It could be said to be the art of respecting nature and working with it to cultivate land, plants, animals and people by fostering mutually beneficial relationships between them. Permaculture is a method of designing communities in ways that mimic the relationships found in the natural ecologies.
No pre-requisites are required. This course takes place over four consecutive Sunday evenings at our Berkeley Campus.
